Kim Kardashian is making headlines again. This time for attempting to trademark the word “Kimono” for her new line of shapewear.
TV celebrity and superstar social media influencer Kim Kardashian is being accused of cultural appropriation for naming her new line of shapewear “Kimono Solutionwear”.
Shortly after her announcement on social media, Kim faced backlash from netizens and critics, calling it an act of cultural theft. This also lead to the birth of the hashtag #KimOhNo.
The kimono is a traditional Japanese garment, which is a significant cultural symbol worn on special social and cultural occasions, such as weddings.
Kim’s “Kimono” obviously has nothing to do with the significant traditional garment, and understandably not many people are happy about this.
