Tech giant Apple loses patent lawsuit.
In a surprising move, Apple has settled its patent lawsuit with Qualcomm.
This settlement would mean that Apple will now have to pay the Intellectual Property licensing fees to Qualcomm, which was the basis on the lawsuit in the first place.
Why did Apple, a trillion-dollar company, back down from this lawsuit?
Because of 5G.
You see, Qualcomm is currently the leading producer of 5G chips. Chips which Apple need, if they plan to bring the iPhone to 5G networks.
Apple’s other options for 5G chips are Intel and Huawei, but Intel recently announced that they will be scrapping their 5G plans, and Huawei telecommunications hardware have been barred from entering the United States, Japan, and Australia, due to security reasons.
So, Apple really didn’t have a choice in this matter, which prompted their settlement with Qualcomm. Its just business, as the saying goes.
